New Masjid

Werneth Jamia Masjid is currently working towards building a modern purpose-built Masjid to serve the changing needs of it‘s rapidly growing Muslim community. It will serve as a valuable asset within the community, accessible to both Muslim’s and non-Muslim’s who express an interest in developing their knowledge and learning of Islam.
The new Masjid will be located adjacent to the existing building on land which was purchased from Oldham Council back in 2000. Planning permission to build the new Masjid has recently been granted and construction work to prepare the site has already begun.
The proposed plans for the new Masjid will not only act as a place of prayer, but will also provide many additional facilities to promote the teachings of Islam in the 21st century. Upon completion of this ambitious project, men, women and children will soon (Insha’Allah – God willing) be able to benefit from the following services:
  • Conference/seminar facilities
  • Daily prayer halls for men, women and children
  • Classrooms for Islamic studies and Arabic classes
  • Enrichment activities in Maths, English, Science and ICT
  • Cleansing facilities for the deceased
  • Fitness centre (Gymnasium)
  • Improved Wudu facilities
  • On site car parking
  • ICT resources
  • Crèche
The project is estimated to cost around £1.8 million, £410,000 of which has been raised so far through donations within the local community (Alhamdulillah – All praise is due to Allah). However, we still have a long way to go and urge people to donate generously.
